I am a wife and a mom of two boys, age 9 and 11; a business owner, a classroom volunteer for the past six years, and Giving Campaign Chair for Highland Elementary Parent Teacher Organization for 2 years. I recently co-created the Highland Elementary School Lego Robotics Program, an after school enrichment program.
I cannot think of a better use of my time then to volunteer at our local schools. One of my passions is teaching Lego Robotics. It is a great program that teaches basic programming, problem solving and STEM principles in a fun, interactive way. Education is the great equalizer and I believe that all our students deserve equal opportunities from arts and humanities to STEM, regardless of the school they attend, their address, background, gender or ethnicity. We need to make these opportunities more accessible to everyone.
I grew up in Escondido, California. I attended college at the University of California, San Diego where I received my Bachelor of Arts in History with the intention of eventually teaching High School.
I am a proud Bend resident for the past 13 years. I eagerly enjoy all this area has to offer: hiking, snowboarding, kayaking and camping with my husband, kids and my sweet rescue dog, Molly.
